Lorca thought that the ‘play’ was one of the most useful and expressive means to widen the belt of consensus toward the foundation of a country and a barometer of the rise and fall of that country. Under the influence of Cervantes, Lorca dealt with the theme of the liberal marriage and love, excessively attached subjects for women. In his dramatical literature, these themes have appeared through the confrontation of the spirit of liberty, that is expressed In each character and his hope, with the traditional social ethos. The counterpart who always falls in this confrontation is the female. This type of themes is treated not only in Lorca's playwitings but also in his poetry.
When the Civil War finished in 1939, under the military regime of a fascist Franco, no one from the universities of Spain dared to make comments on the name of Federico Garcia Lorca. What would be the reason for this? In a word, because his plays are describing an individual liberty against a oppression on the people. For that reason, the spanish people lended an ear to what Lorca told about the liberty and, in consequence, the extreme right, that was worried about his voice for the liberty and his influence to the public people, killed him.
These days, the love for the Lorca's plays has no frontier, because his plays rise above the simple level of artistic works and persue elegantly a spirit of liberty, the most noble spirit of all mankind. The point of this thesis is in the seeking of a message for exalt the noble spirit of liberty through some of many Lorcas’s Playwitings; Mariana Pineda, Los tfteres de Cachiporras, Bodas de Sangre, Yerma and La Casa de Bernarda Alba.
