The objective of this study was to examine the pattern in which the human memory process is involved in the time conceptualization of daily words.
Previous cognitive semantic studies have suggested that titre conceptualization is fundamentally a process of metaphor. Recognizing their limits, this study attempted to find its cause based on the outcomes of neurophysiological studies.
In neurophysiology, all human mental activities are reduced to the activities of molecular unit called neuron. Adopting the reductionist position, this study also maintained that the ultimate cause of titre conceptualization is the morphological change of synapse.
For example, we found that 'ap[front]/dy[back]' as an expression of spatial space is switched to the expression of titre sequence. For verbs 'boneda[spend]/zinæda[pass],' we assumed that the latter draws out more anecdotal memories than the former.
In addition, this study suggested G. Edelman's 'theory of neural group selection(TNGS)' as another cause of titre conceptualization and examined its pattern, and demonstrated that it is because of the structure of neural network that words in a synonymic relation like 'doŋan[during]/sai[between]' and 'bonæda[spend]/zinæda[pass]' are chosen adequately according to situation.
