Labor movement poetry of the 1980s expresses the vividness of work sites and workers' emotions such as anger, despair, hope concretely. This study aims at recognizing repetition technique effective for exposing the characteristics of work site and purpose that labor movement poetry contains and reviewing the aspects of figuration of the poetic meanings and contents of labor movement poetry of the 1980s.
In labor movement poetry of the 1980s, workers' sorrow on their life under the heavy suppression is expressed actively through repetition. A variety of aspects of repetition show in both ways of repetition of a kind of syntactic structure and repetition of the phrase of self-depreciation. In addition, repetition cooperating with contrast expresses workers' reality very obviously.
Showing workers' reality clearly is the role of repetition, a rhetorical technique not difficult to understand. Through repeated phrases poets expose workers' working conditions more clearly. At the same time, they form an opportunity hardening the will for a revolution based on this awareness. Furthermore, through the repeated enumeration they offer various information on an object and cohere the image and the meaning of the object so that they cam make you understand the reality of social contradiction successively.
Finally, labor movement poetry of the 1980s use repetition actively to deliver clear meaning. The ultimate objective of labor movement poetry is well-known to liberate the working class. Labor movement poetry of the 1980s emphasizes hopeful future through repetition and sing the belief in liberation of the working class through repetition of syntactic structure. Therefore, mentioning what a poet tries to express repeatedly can be understood as a rhetorical strategy to expose the meaning he wants to express clearly and materialize the trust and confidence in liberation of the working class.
