This article attempts to investigate the process of George Orwell’s socialism. Specifically, I deal with how his socialistic beliefs originated and what the characteristics of his socialism were. I can say that Orwell’s approach to socialism was purely his own shaped collectively by his personal disposition and by personal events during the 1920’s and 1930’s. His first experience which had a significant impact was the life of an Indian Imperial Police in Burma. The second one was the life of a tramp in London. And the third experience was that of the life of a miner in the north of England. Three experiences are described in detail in The Road to Wigan Pier. This article shall also look at his attacks on the Socialism and Marxism and, discuss his dream of a desirable society.
