We examined 351 university students in Busan to compare male and female students with respect to the choice of restaurant types, the knowledge of nutrition, eating-out characteristics, and eating habits, We also investigated the relationship between students' eating habits and their eating-out frequencies as well as their obesity levels. To Justify the findings, we conducted frequency analysis, x²-test, t-test, and ANOVA analysis by using SPSS Statistics Program 14.0.
The findings upon inquiry showed that the average height and weight were 175.15 ㎝ and 70.42 ㎏ for male students while 162.48 ㎝ and 51.63 ㎏ for female students. The data also showed that 27 percent of male students were overweight or obese while 3.8 percent for female students; 43.0 percent of female students were underweight while 9.7 percent for male students; most students lived In their own houses; and 32.8 percent of students were eaten out less than four or more than 15 times a month. When choosing restaurant types, male students considered the taste the most followed by price and sanitation while female students preferred taste to sanitation, followed by price. Male students marked 11.4 points out of 15 for their nutritional knowledge while female students got a higher score than 12.2. The correlation between dietary attitudes and obesity levels revealed that the normal-weight and overweight groups had somewhat desirable dietary attitudes while obese and underweight groups had undesirable ones.
