Recently, much attrention to urban generation has paid with a great interest of economic vitalization and improvement of physical environment in urban centers in Korea. Earlier urban generation tradition has started to tackle the declination of urban centers.
In the past several decades, cities of Korea have enlarged their sizes to meet the land demand in urban areas. The facts, however, have also resulted in the unbalanced distribution of urban function and distortion of spatial structure causing a critical urban problem - the decline of urban center. To solve these problems. the regeneration plans of the old city center have been most recently established in Korea, as in western countries and Japan.
Therefore, we need to explore how to improve deteriorated economic and physical environment in city center by examining current conditions such as existing land use, commercial status, and strategic planning; comprehensively vision and activity to solve various problems in a certain region owing to changed conditions of economy, physics, society, and environment.
The aims of this study is to investigate the programs of developed Tokyo in Japan, which country already experienced the declined industries and the old city streets. and to establish the strategic plans and the projects of regeneration driven by province local governments in Jlniu and Masan.
