The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a 12 week different exercise program on BMD(lumber, femur neck, femur ward, total BMD) and FSH, T3, cortisol in obese female students. Forty subjects with over 30% body fat participated in this study and were classified into four groups; aerobic training group(n=10), resistance training group(n=10), combined training group(n=10) and control group(n=10). All exercise training was performed for 50 minutes(4 tims per week). Aerobic exercise program was composed of treadmill jogging(25 minutes) and stationary cycling(25minutes) at 70% HRR. Resistance exercise program was composed of barbell squats, leg presses, leg curls, back extensions, bench presses, shoulder press, pulldown, dead lifts, sit-up and subjects performed this training to 3set at 10RM. The combined exercise program was organized with aerobic exercise/treadmill at 70% HRR for 20 minutes) and resistance exercise(3set at 10RM for 30 minutes) which composed of leg presses, leg curl, bench presses, pulldown, sit-up. Body fat decreased significantly in all group except control group after exercise training. Lean body mass increased significantly in resistance and combined training group after exercise training. Bone mineral density of femur ward in resistance training group and lumber(L2-L4), femur neck and ward in combined training group were significantly increased from baseline. Cortisol concentration was significantly decreased after 12weeks training in aerobic and combined groups.
