Kangwon-do lies to the east of Korea and the country is backed by a rugged mountain area in the Taebaek mountain range. Buddhism was introduced into Three Kingdoms from China. Buddhism was introduced into the region of Korea. Buddhism of Kangwon Country was get into the Unified Silla The Buddhism belief was spread throughout the country when the Unified Silla. Especially, Introduction of Zen Buddhism popularized in the Kangwon Country when the late Unified Silla, This is the common opinion of all. The representative monk was Doui, Honggak and Bumil, They were national Reverend Priest and were established the Buddhist temple in Kangwon Country centering around the Seoraksan and Odaesan. The Zen Buddhism has become much larger and more brisk when the Korea dynasty. The first King of the Korea dynasty, Buddhism had made a state religion. The representative Korea dynasty monk was Jinkong, Wonkong and Jikwang Reverend Priest. They were established the temple in arround the Kangwon Country. The Buddhist temple for belief and political function was popularized.
The Buddhism art were established within the Buddhist temple arround the Kangwon Country The stone art had been formed the center of Buddhism art. The stone have considerable endurance. The Buddhism stone art in Kangwon Country classify into stone Pagoda, Stupa, Stone Monument, Stone Lantern and Danganjiju They were developed for the invoke a blessing of the king, royal family, noble and the people. The Buddhism Culture of the Kangwon Country, the Unified Silla was partial, the Korea dynasty was covered a wide area.
