This small scale of a cse study explored a full range of possible reading strategies of a Korean female student in relation to reading behavior in a US academic context. It also investigated the factors affecting the learner"s strategy use. Three data collecting methods (i.e., checklist, think-aloud, and book analysis) were employed to examine the learner"s reading strategies. An interview was used to find out the factors which might affect the learner"s use of strategy as well as her self-recognized strategy types. Results indicated that the strategies the L2 learner indicated to use were not indentical with what she actually used while reading, although the learner used all three types of strategy classified by Jimenez, Garcia and Pearson (1996). This study also reported that the learner"s strategy use was affected by factors such as language difference, motivation, and level of English proficiency. Further research is discussed.
