The purpose of this study was to implement a location determination model proper for FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) in domestic manufacturing. The specific research method was used AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) in order to evaluate the importance of location. Through this, it grasped the importance and priority of location factors, suggested a location evaluation model that the businesses can utilize practically based on the results of evaluating the importance by business category, by corporate scale, and by location type, and elicited implications.
As a result of research, the importance of location determinants in Foreign Direct Investment Firms in Korea was indicated to be high in order of market factor, production element, industrial connection, investment incentive, industrial infrastructure, and corporate characteristics.
What the location satisfaction in Foreign Direct Investment Firms was indicated to be high includes the convenience in transportation such as port, airport and railway, the accessibility to raw & subsidiary materials and parts suppliers, the accessibility to major customers and market, and the rent & parceling-lot price level.
As for the significance of this study, it suggested how to evaluate candidate location by business category and by corporate scale that the businesses can apply practically hereafter, by eliciting the standard weight in location determinants through using AHP analytical technique, and evaluated by reflecting the investment incentive and the corporate characteristics, which have influence upon location determination of FDI enterprise, in the location determination model.
