This thesis is a study of The popular tendency and periodical peculiarity of the 1970s South Korean children’s movie. The movie which this thesis analyzed is 〈The World without Mom(Eomma-eobsneun haneul-alae)〉(1977). The main characters of this movie are three young brothers. Their mother died and father is hospitalized. A spectator feels sadness, and it is related with the public mental situation. On the other hand, the thought of loyalty and filial piety(충효사상) and the mind of new village(새마을정신) are discovered by this movie. It is related with the governmental education policy and movie policy of the Yushin system(유신체제) and the Park Chung-hee’(박정희)s administration. 〈The World without Mom〉 depicted society of South Korea in the 1970s with characters, narratives, episodes, cameras, sounds and editing styles, etc. Thus, this movie can be said that it is a typical movie reflecting politics, economy, culture of South Korea in the 1970s.
