This Study is to see the present transmission state of the Maeul believes and to find the ways of application of the Maeul believes as cultural contents.
Particularly the main purpose of this study is to figure out the present condition of the Maeul believes and to look for the ways of application of it as cultural contents.
For a long time the Maeul believes which were transmitted since long ago have been a Maeul festivals, and at the same time they have been village rituals for Maeul gods which were believed to protect the life spaces of villagers. All the present conformed number of the Maeul believes in Chung Buk Province are in 1,127 villages. Among them 727 villages, 64.5%, are transmitting the
believes up until now. The discontinuity ratio of the Maeul believes show highly in the remote mountain villages and some urban areas where urbanization expedited.
The Maeul believes can be used as various cultural contents. The Maeul believes in Chung Buk Province has excellent contents to be used as well. However it is very hard to find the cultural contents that has used the Maeul believes presently.
The Maeul believes should be restored and transmitted. A modern village is a basic unit of community that interacts within the areas. Therefore villagers need to participate in preserving and transmitting village cultures. It helps to make communities which are based on villages.
Finally, the development of cultural contents based on Maeul believes has very various ways in all the areas of culture. To do that first, we need to excavate the prototype and materials of cultural contents related to village believes and then we need to establish the storytelling based on it. It can be used in several cultural industry areas. Most of all in animation, character, movie and media, and theme festival and so on.
