The purpose of this study is to investigate the character of the "national literature" advocated by the literary persons of the <Young Writers Association of Joseon>. Because the national literature advocated in the early period of independence was interpreted differently depending on the writer, it is expressed in various meanings. This is also because the word "nation" is begotten from an abstract and idealogical factor. Here, in order to reveal the true nature of "national literature" advocated by the literary persons of the <Young Writers Association of Joseon>, the contents were examined through the novels and critiques of Munyeprocured by them. This is why established writers intended to maintain the existing literary formulas, the position of new writers who resisted such, and furthermore, the point in which from the mid 1950s why the trends of modern Korea literary circles converted to the modernism literature pursued by the new writers.
Rather than overcoming the national crisis through "national literature", the literary persons of the <Young Writers Association of Joseon> used novels and critiques for rhetorics of persuasion as a political tool based on the self-interest of expanding the "literary influence" of the Korean literary circles. The critique written in the magazine proclaims an emphasis on humanity, the needs for establishing realism literature for national literature, while criticizing modernism literature. In the novel, it talks about a "lonely" petty bourgeois based on the theme of the "universality" of human life. The reader, who is identified as the character, indirectly experiences the life of another person to understand the "uncontrollable situation", discovers "love" and "compassion", and arouses "sentiment" to feel an aesthetic experience.
