This study for an actual analysis sampled 428 middle school student, who participated in school sports activities, to analyze the effect of stress coping behaviors on depression and after distributing questionnaires of stress coping behaviors on depression, collected data were checked by t-test, corelation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The following conclusions were drawn;
First, as a result of analyzing the difference between stress coping behaviors based on students’ participation, students who participated in the school sports activities used more active coping behaviors and less passive/aversive coping behaviors.
Second, as a result of analyzing the difference between depression, participating students were low in the subordinate factors in depression(a sense of despair/demotivation, somber moods, and a sense of worthlessness).
Third, participating students’ stress coping activities had a meaningful effect on depression.
