The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of children’s perspective taking ability using physical expression activities through a multi-cultural approach. The subjects consisted of 46 five-year-old children attending private kindergarten in Gumi city. The children were divided into the experimental group consisting 23 children who were given physical expression activities using a multi-cultural approach and the control group consisting 23 children who were given physical expression activities using a general approach. As a measure of young children’s perspective taking ability, the picture test tool of Kurdek and Rodgon(1975) which was used by Yung-Hee Kim(1995) was used. The study included the pre-test, the physical expression activities using a multi-cultural approach, and the post test. The data were analyzed with ANCOVA. The results of this study showed a significant difference between the experimental and the control group of the perspective taking ability, especially on spatial ability, emotional ability, and cognitive ability. These results indicate that by using physical expression activities through a multi-cultural approach, children are able to be more open minded, to understand the harm of prejudice, and to build cooperation skills.
