The purpose of this paper is to analyze and to look for the ways of understanding and representing ‘time’ in English and Korean in relation with ‘space’ within the framework of Cognitive Linguistics. For this purpose, the concept ‘time’ is discussed compared to the concept ‘space’. These two concepts have been considered as the important fundamentals in linguistic as well as philosophical researches such as Langacker(1987) and Wierzbicka(1996). In the paper, the way the more abstract ‘time’ is understood and represented in terms of ‘space’ which is much easier to access will be discussed. Also, time expressions in English and Korean are analyzed and compared in terms of metonymy and metaphor. In addition, different cultural background affected in the relation will be considered.
