Honey bee is a high valuable resource as a main pollinator around the world that contributes approximately 25% of world food productions and provides various functional foods as well as the potential drugs for disease. Almost methods used to determine the fate of honey bees are direct way and have the difficulty in their usefulness under the some circumstances. This study is to assess the possibility of the infrared thermal photograph technique as a new indirect diagnostic method for survey of survival or death of honeybee colonies. The infrared thermal images are analyzed by FLIR tools and calculated values were used to examine a difference between survival group and death group. This study showed that the difference in between the highest and the lowest temperature of the two groups has a range of about 2~6°C on average and the survival group always presents the higher temperature in comparison with death group. It indicated that infrared thermal photograph technique could be used as an indicator to determine the fate of honey bee colonies in an indirect way.
