This article aims to discuss East Asia as appeared in Children’s Li terature Magazine of DPRK in the 1960s when the DPRK emphasised the importance of “Marxist-Leninist proletarian internationalism”.
East Asian countries that appeared in Children’s Literature in the 1960s are DPRK, the Republic of Korea (hereafter ROK), China, Vietnam, and Mongolia. Of these, China, Vietnam, and Mongolia, “Socialist brother countries”, are represented as friends, under “Marxist-Leninist proletarian internationalism”.
There are only one work appeared in Children’s Literature in the 1960s that cover Mongolia. Therefore, this article will focus upon China and Vietnam as appeared in Children’s Literature in the 1960s.
In the 1960s, children’s literature of DPRK considered China and Vietnam as a good friends to the people of DPRK, and especially perceived Vietnam, the forward ranks of Anti-imperialism.
The Vietnam War in the 1960s influenced not only Vietnam but whole East Asia. Chinese opinion of Vietnam War changed DPRK perception of China. DPRK insisted on “Marxist-Leninist proletarian internationalism” and Anti-imperialism. Unfortunately, Children’s Literature of DPRK in the 1960s and East Asian Sense do not show much artistry, it just show their political opinions.
