The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of various characteristics of cluster on inter-organization knowledge sharing and business competitive advantage, to explore the influence of inter-organization knowledge sharing on business knowledge creation, to investigate the influence of business knowledge creation on business competitive advantage, and to examine the effect of business competitive advantage on performance.
In order to analyze the fitness of the research model and to test the hypotheses, the data are collected from 124 agricultural corporations in Korea through the administration of structured questionnaires. A path analysis is performed by the AMOS package. The goodness of fit indices indicate that the fit of the model to the data is generally good. In addition, seven of eleven hypotheses are supported by the data. The results reveals that (1) factor conditions, context for firm strategy and rivalry, and demand conditions have positive effects on business competitive advantage, (2) related and supporting industries have significantly positive effects on inter-organization knowledge sharing, (3) inter-organization knowledge sharing have positive effects on business knowledge creation, (4) business knowledge creation have significantly positive effects on business competitive advantage, and (5) business competitive advantage have positive effects on performance. These results of this study have implications for both theory of agricultural industry cluster and regional agriculture policy practice.
