This paper is written in order to research for the contents and Seon expression of Naong"s poetry style. There were found three kinds of styles in Naong"s poetry, Those are the daily life poetry style, the thing and phenomena poetry style, the instructing poetry style.
Firstly, the contents of the daily life poetry style are persona himself"s enjoying nature, answering other"s poem, cutting other"s hair, thanking others, visiting saint places, praising Buddhist person. He used several kinds of rhetorics, for example, when he express the fact that the aspects of enjoying nature, praising Buddhist person are expressing truth, he took the rhetoric of paradox, when he insists that phenomena themselves are truth, he took the rhetoric of symbolic, when he tells that all-beings are originally Buddha, he took the rhetoric of metaphor as Seon expression skill.
Secondly, there are several kinds of aspects, for example, things themselves, things with phenomena, phenomena and ideology in the thing and phenomena poetry style. He expressed the way of existence of the principle and phenomena by using Seon expression skill just like the rhetoric of paradox, the rhetoric of symbolic, the rhetoric of metaphor.
Thirdly, there are two kind of poetry in the instructing poetry style: those are the poetry of showing others(示人詩), the poetry of requesting Naong Gatha(求偈詩, 求頌詩). He had taught lay people and monks the thinking of all-beings-original Buddha and the main point to be careful in the process of Seon practicing by writing the instructing poetry style, He accepted the rhetoric of paradox, the rhetoric of symbolic, the rhetoric of metaphor as a Seon expression skill in the instructing poetry style.
Even though I tried to study the contents and Seon expression of Naong"s poetry style in this research paper, there must be remained the other subjects to study. I might continue researching the structure of Seon master Naong"s Seon poetry next time in the near future, for example, what kinds of contexts were used in his Seon poetry on the level of sentences or works.
