The purpose of this study was to provide a politic and strategic plan of industrial collaboration for Korea`s national elite athletes through an analysis of the national Athlete Career and Education (ACE) program that is managed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) since early 1990s. Firstly, the paper reviews the literatures on career transition concepts and models, identifying factors in relation to out-placement and redevelopment. Secondly, it also provides a better understanding of the ACE program and how it is a source of competitive advantage in providing ample opportunities for a wide range of career transition assistance. And thirdly, political and strategic suggestions are proposed based on the theoretical basis and empirical findings for the integrated and self-directed elite athlete career development and career transition support program in Korea. In conclusion, it is important to establish elite athlete related career and education policy guidance based on a holistic approach. Early career planning is essential for facilitating a smooth transition to achieve career goals.
