Analyzing the flow of tourism research using scientific methodology is very important. The study attempted to observe prove and classify objects of research objectively and systematically. The only previous research done in this area was by Prf. Kim, Jung-Keun in 1990. This study aimed to analyze the flow of tourism research within Korea and abroad. We focused on abstracts in $quot;Tourism Research$quot; and $quot;ATR, JTR and TM$quot; from 1996 to 1998. The study used academic analysis, applicational analysis and methodological analysis. From these results, the study determined the major field in tourism and compared the major issues in tourism research within Korea and abroad. In the academic analysis the tourism marketing and tourist psychology arid behavior were the major field in korea and abroad. In the applicational analysis, hotel was the major research field in Korea, whereas theoretical research was the most frequent area used abroad. Lastly, in the methodological analysis, the sample and questionnaire analysis was often used domestically and example analysis and other approaches were used abroad.
