“Flowers in Shanghai” at characters and content have been “A Dream in Red Mansions” impact marks. In the characters, the two works among Wang Xifeng and Huang Cuifeng, Lin Daiyu and Li Shufang image is very similar. Although their personalities are similar but different because of their identity, under similar circumstances, for their description is different. The author uses a lot of drinkers’ wager game, but because of the author’s poems level boundaries, turnout suddenly context works, this point can be considered as a “Flowers in Shanghai,” the biggest stain. The author write specifically whole character dialogue with the Wu dialect, can really vividly convey the late Qing Shanghai prostitutes are unique and lovely and gentle demeanor and pretending to be feminine style, so Hu Shi said that the book has become “the first masterpiece of Wu dialect.” .In terms of content there are similarities, but the “Flowers in Shanghai” is not a mere imitation of “Dream of Red Mansions”, but also inherited the “A Dream in Red Mansions,” the creative spirit.
