The purpose of this study was to hear the voices of school sports team coaches who are having difficulties in this rapidly changing political environment and explore their recognition on the problems lying in the operation of school sports teams. To attain the goal, the study employed the qualitative study method and selected total six coaches in consideration of member characteristics (age, gender, tournament result, teaching career, school level). Through this process, the researcher has gained the following results : first, the problems are associated with ‘the coaches living relying on Korean major sports events and the survival of school sports teams’. Within the particular structure of the school sports team in which result-oriented ideology is being stressed, the school sports team coaches recognize the highest value is placed on the results from both National Youth Sports Festivals and National Sports Festivals, and the coaches’ salaries or contract renewal depends on the results of National Youth Sports Festivals or National Sports Festivals. And this results in severe competition in Korean major sports events and also neglect over student athletes’ right to learn. This is also highly related to the infringement of student athletes’ human rights and the coaches’ corruption. Second, the problems were also associated with ‘the gap between the policies to operate school sports teams and the actual situations in the field’. School sports team coaches tend to think negatively about the policies to operate school sports teams which disregard the actual situations in the field. And they are suffering from the pressure resulted from frequent games and camp training as well as poor treatment they are receiving under the insecure state of employment.
