Tomb is modeled, normative, actuality-imitated according to courtesy system defined as world of the deceased in Jurye(周禮). Jurye has an normative effect on making Oriental tomb and ancient Chinese castle formally does. Based on term called "intactness", Emperor Qin Shihuang constructs his own tomb to adopt technique building castle, expresses his social position. After Jin period, the direct effect isn"t identified. Additionally, chinese scholars accurately know inclined tomb passage, vertical ceiling, occurrence and arrangement of subroom, arched main room"s ceiling and oval wall and so on.
Therefore to study the former subject, I examine the location, style and characteristic of each chinese dynasties" tombs. As a result inclined shape-‘甲’ plane of long axis"s rank direction made at Jin(秦) period becomes baroque after this time, restoration tendency appears at northern Ju(北周) period. Since then baroque revives at Dang(唐) period. This aspect agrees with Han(漢) dynasty based on western hillside circumference of Gwanjung(關中) region.
From this study outcome, chinese space ideal changes long axis direction, artistic characteristics are simple and aesthetic at Dang period, but complicated and massive after this time. This factor is estimated to affect building tombs. Form symbolism of the inclined shape-‘甲’ tomb is analyzed.
The shape-‘甲’ tomb imitates the walled city and the royal palace through ideal ("intactness", simplicity) and plane symbolism (module concept : ‘ㅁ’-shaped house=ceiling), additionally square main room is changed into circle and flat ceiling into arched too. The shape-‘甲’ plane is plentifully distributed in western hillside of Gwanjung region. This result is estimated to be influenced by structural symbolism<extended wall(oval)→expression of Taoism world> affected from Taoism adopted at early Han period and local environment.
