Yiaodong, Shanxi Province, China, has been a human-provided residence since about 6000 years ago. Yaodong is an optimal primitive form of dwelling that protects humans from wind, winter, and predators. Shijiagou Traditional Settlement in Shaanxi Province is a clan village formed by ‘sa’ family for 400years. In this village, clan-based society and residency were formed in relation to the arrangement of fluctuations. In this background, the purpose of the study is to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of fluctuations and space in the clan village. First as a result of the analysis. The residential space has a vertical and horizontal hierarchical order. Second, the courtyard is the public place of the village and the courtyard is the central place of the house. The courtyard in the residential space symbolizes the independence and center of the family. Third, the chimney for heating has a special connection between the courtyard and the yard. Through the analysis, the form of fluctuation is closely related to the activities and communities of the clan groups.
