This paper is designed for analysing of the polarized aspects of gender display in Korean popular culture which appear when idol singer groups perform in their music videos and TV music programs. It is assumed that girl groups express highly presented eroticism by dancing with various gestures and costumes. The main variables for the construction of the gender display are official supports of government for Hallyu, the profit-oriented management of entertainment agency, and the fandom which accelerate the phenomenon. For the analysis of gender display, the theory and indicators of Goffman and Wallis are adopted. Three main results are as followings. Firstly, the performances of idol girl groups consist of erotic dancing mainly. Secondly, dance and costumes of female groups are related to the typical femininity which is characterized by obedience and powerlessness, and are concentrated to the sexual expressions of body, while those of male groups are related to domination, authority and display of power. Third, female and male groups polarized gender display definitely. These hypotheses are verified with this analysis.
