The researcher worked with a total of 240 subjects with the aid of random sampling. The subjects were divided into two categories: One took part in morning exercise in sports center G and H located at S gu n Seoul and the other participated in evening exercise in those facilities. SCL-90-R, the questionnaire introduced in this study, related to nine symptom levels, each representing one psychological symptom. The subjects were asked to determine seven days` symptoms according to the following five degrees: "no symptoms at all(5 points)," "meager symptoms(4 points)," "slightly serious symptoms(3 points)," "quite serious symptoms(2 points)," "badly serious symptoms(1 point)." This means that the higher one`s score is the worse one`s health is. The collected data went through independent t-test in analyzing principal variables with subordinate variables subjected to Pearson`s correlation. The researcher came to the following conclusions on the basis of the research procedures above. First, the survey indicates in respect to the mental health index of female and male subjects taking parting in morning exercise that there was a significant difference in Som, O-C, I-S, DEP, HOS, PHOB, and PAR(p<.05). Second, the survey indicates in respect to the mental health index of female and male subjects taking parting in evening exercise that there was a significant difference in SOM, O-C, I-S, DEP, HOS, PHOB, and PAR(p<.05) between female and male subjects at a significant level of 0.05. Third, the survey reveals in respect of male mental health index among those who take part morning exercise and those who participate in evening exercise that there was a significant difference in ANX, HOS, PHOB, PAR, and PSY(p<.05). Fourth, the survey reveals in respect of female mental health index among those who take part in morning exercise and those who participate in evening exercise that there was a significant difference in SOM, ANX, PHOB, and PAR(p<.05). Fifth, the survey shows in respect of male and female mental health index among those who take part in morning exercise and those who participate in evening exercise that there was a significant difference in SOM, DEP, HOS, and PHOB. The survey shows that there is a clear difference in mental health elements between morning exercise and evening exercise. The researcher would like to suggest that future research will be made with the help of multi-facet measurement for the sake of health promotion based on more accurate mental health measurement.
