The government of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has made efforts to develop policies for local residents to get their income increased by development of travel industry, and now the execution of the policies is just ahead.
The study is to analyse execution priority of travel polices pledged by the governor of the 6th popular vote with experts of related fields. Execution priorities of policies were analysed by public servant groups executing actual policies, business parties directly recognizing profits following to policy execution, and academic and research groups theoretically examining policy development and execution.
The analysis result showed that among main policies, ‘a promotion of travel industry by putting culture, ecology, healing and leisure together’ was the most critical policy while among detail policies, ’a development of experience based tourist attraction’ was the policy as a top priority. It also showed that for income increase of local residences, executing polices based on culture and natural resources rather than medical tour or cruise were more critical. In addition, it showed that development of experience based tourist attraction was an urgent request as tourism behavior was changing from leasure and watch to experience.
Examining priority of travel policies for the local residents and analysing differences of priorities for each survey group through the AHP analysis will be useful for further policy execution process as reference data. In addition, the meaning of the study is that implication about the purpose and object of policy execution can be supplied by examining the differences among related groups.
