The article deals with an ecological mission in which the Korea Christian Environmental Movement Solidarity (KCEMS) promotes `the Grove of Grace` project against desertification in Mongolia. Mongolia is serious at the risk of desertification of 90% of its total territory due to the climate change and global warming. The Asian dust which is blown greatly from Mongolian desert has made harmful effects on the Korean peninsula with various diseases in every spring time. The article consists of three parts. The first part analyzes some factors of the Mongolian desertification and the Grove of Grace project by KCEMS. The two main factors of the desertification are reported that 17% is the result of climate change and 83% is because of human activities. In Order to stop the desertification, the KCEMS has nursed the saplings of 140,000 and planted various trees of 5,000 in two areas of Mongolia since 2009. Under the long-term project of the Grove of Grace, the KCEMS will strive to support the native nomads who will settle down in the villages with the life-styles of the half-nomad and half-agricultural settler, and further to establish an ecological community in Mongolia where Koreans will immigrate to settle down. The second part examines three alternative ecological theologies and their missionary praxes in order to evaluate the above project: The Green Messiah Jesus who energizes the environmental and ecological salvation, the ecological theology of Sallie McFague which defines the world as the body of God, and the life-giving holistic mission which keeps Christian identity under missio Dei. The third part introduces the Grove of Grace ecological mission which is evaluated as below: a sharing of fund mission of the Green Messiah Jesus, an NGO mission in solidarity with civil organizations, and a possible holistic mission to give life strategically to Mongolia. From the African view point of the ecological mission of tree planting, the KCEMS ecological mission is asked to understand Mongolian native wisdoms such as traditional culture and customs for preservation of nature. In conclusion, further understanding of life-styles of local communities and the religion and culture of Mongolia is necessary for the KCEMS to activate the long-term ecological mission.
