In the past, Korean students were classified as the kanji zone learners in Japanese Education. But now, it’s impossible to recognize them as such due to the change of national policy on language and the curriculum. In Korean social life, the opportunity to use kanji has almost disappeared, and in public education kanji and Chinese classics became inferior subjects. Therefore many Japanese learners with no knowledge of kanji continued to increase. In terms of Japanese education, how you handle kanji education is a big problem.
In this paper, I consider how Korean kanji and classical Chinese education from K-12 is treated and how it is carried out in a curriculum. I will then analyze kanji education in Japanese education in Korea based on an attitude survey of kanji learning of the Japanese learner in the university.
Increasing interest in kanji and creating an environment to promote kanji with a purpose is very important. Improving the curriculum with an aim to maximize the power to utilize kanji is needed through the reformation of the class according to the skills of a beginner, the arrangement of the special time of use of kanji for learners without the knowledge of kanji, and a connection with the art.
