Aristotle ever said: “People gathered in the city for living. They stayed in the city in order to live better.” In our daily life, our sense, visual and hearing changes as the urban environment changes. We not only focus on the different landform and the crowd, but also focus on the manmade splendid landscape more which covered on the land. The city is the homeland of everyone living here.
Contemporary urban sculptures are showed through setting up art in the three-dimensional public space.At the very beginning ,the city outstanding sculptures are carved with nimbus. They are showed incisively and vividly in either realistic way or meaningful way.
The urban sculptures tell people about their unique artistic spirit, national style and cultural background in most cities. The art sculpture can be seen everywhere in public as one of the common urban public arts in the city. They inosculate with all kinds of landscape sketch, public facilities, and city buildings as a whole, then they form the public art space with artistic value. City sculptures are not only about the annotation of environment, but also extends to the environment. They make the dreary and limited space become livid and infinite.
Nanjing is an old accumulation with today’s brilliant, natural scenery and modern city of collision, its design and construction of the city image which require the participation of public art design, and an integral part of which is the city sculptures. Nanjing city sculptures more and more diverse, public artists have done in the form of artistic expression in a multi-faceted attempt, reform and innovation, so that the city sculpture carrying the human story of Nanjing, folk customs, the future aspirations of Nanjing city into a steady stream of vigor and vitality.
