This study aims to develop the estimation formula for V˙ O₂max of the male college studentsaccording to the running speed by exercise intensity. The subjects were 17 male collegestudents(19.2±1.6) without any health problems. In the first test, the subjects walked on the treadmills using KSSI protocol until they were all-out to get the maximal oxygen consumption. In addition, Karvonen formula was applied to calculate %HRR by exercise intensity. In the secondary test, the subjects had gradually reached to the exercise intensity for 7 minutes and adjusted the intensity to keep the steady state for about 3 minutes using 02runner to determine the running speed of each subject corresponding to the exercise intensity level of 50%HRR, 60%HRR and 70%HRR. Next, the target exercise intensity was maintained for 12 minutes and the average speed was calculated as checking the speeds every 20 sec. The estimated speeds were put in the estimation formula of metabolic rate of ACSM to calculate V˙ O₂max. After that, the data dealing for analysis of the analyzed the data by using SPSS 10.0 statistics package. The results are explained below. 1. Up to raising speed, HR and V˙O₂ are also raised so those are quite related between each other(p＜.05). 2. Recurrence formula of speed for HR is speed=(0.08938×HR) - 4.926(R²=0.7552) 3. Recurrence formula of speed for %HRR is speed(m/min)= (0.0765 ×HR) - 2.4947(R²=0.543) 4. The estimation of 50%HRR, 60%HRR, 70%HRR is higher than the survey of them by the comparative result of the estimate and the survey of the degree of exercise for V˙ O₂max. When we synthesize what is commented, the estimate of VO2 max, which is gone wirh the running speed of the degree of exercise, is nevertheless different a little bit between theestimate and the survey, however has a meaning for the high possibility of reproducibility. After a while, if we will raise the member of the experiment considering the high possibility of the relationship and the estimate of the speed for %HRR, the VO2 max estimate would be more precise.
