This study examines the phonological distinctions of the Baekbyeong Gugeup Sinbang which is a medical book on the temporary treatment. This is a new Modern Korean material which has not been studied yet. From the bibliographical point of view, both this book and Gugeup Sinbang are from the `sujinbon` and their contents are similar. But this book is more systematic than Gugeup Sinbang in orthography and phonology. This book reflects aspects of Middle Korean partially, which, in most cases, was caused by conserving the orthography. This fact tells that this book was edited by selecting contents from other medical books which were published between 15th and 16th centuries. Therefore this book has several aspects of Modren Korean; the consonant cluster `ㅾ(s??)` was used instead of `ㅶ(p??)` and `ㅳ(pt)` did not appear, `T-palatalization` is complete and the vowel `ㅡ(??)` is changed to round-vowel `ㅜ(u)` when `ㅡ(??)‘ is placed in the behind of bilabial consonant. But the vowel `ㅡ(??)` is not changed to front-high-vowel `ㅣ(i)` when placed in the back of consonant `ㅈ(??)`. From the results of phonological analysis, it can be concluded that Baekpyeong Gugeup Sinbang was published in the middle of the 19th century.
