The purpose of this study was to find the recognition about ’public housing for university student’ and to investigate the living condition of university students. Social survey research using questionnaire was conducted among non-resident students living in Seoul area. 110 data were collected and SPSS PASW 18.0 program was used for statistical analysis.
Major findings were as follows: Firstly, university students generally had difficulties in housing. 39% of them lived in under the minimum residential standards. Secondly, 63% of respondents recognized about ‘public housing for university student’. In addition, they want sufficient supply instead of paying more. Thirdly, ‘safety’ was the most important aspect of ‘public housing for university student’.
In conclusion, although the university community directly connected to society, but their recognition isolated from the society. University students should be considered as an expecting consumer in terms of public housing policy.
