The purpose of this study is to discuss the historical background and formative characteristics of the mini skirt style, a style that has been in fashion since the 1960`s. And to discuss also a new culture brought by the formative characteristics of the mini skirt. The way of study is to make foundation with the theory and picture to analyze the historical background and formative characteristics of the mini skirt in the 1960`s. The historical backgrounds are turned out the extension of Young generation-consumer culture, the rise of minimalism, the changing of the ideal beauty and the desire for sexual liberation. Formative characteristics of the 60`s mini skirt are examined by literature, they are divided in the Geometrical-Space style, the Extreme-Reveal style, and Childlike-funny style. Formative characteristics of the Mini skirt in the contemporary fashion are divided in the 60`s revial style, Super Micro Mini style. Soft mini style, Deconstructional style and Glamourous style. These formative characteristics of the mini skirt in the contemporary fashion are more feminine and soft than that of mini skirt in the 1960s`.
