This study attempts to explore the repair organizations between native and Korean speaker interactions of English conversation. English data from interactions are transcribed and analysed, adapting conversation analysis (CA) as a methodology. The analysis of spoken discourse shows the repair organization sequences of a Korean speaker (KS). KS uses many self-initiated repair techniques such as partial or full repetition of their utterance, pause, cut-off, and uh. Also, KS uses next turn repair initiators (NTRIs) such as explicit non-understanding, partial or full repetition of the prior speaker's turn, paraphrasing, and appender NTRI types in other-initiated repair sequences. In particular, KS uses the partial repetition strategies of the prior turn far more frequently than other NTRIs in repair sequences. In addition, KS shows the complicated repair processes by inserting another other-repair sequence in other-repair sequences for their understanding. Finally, this study shows linguistic practices of KS, suggesting the need to explore the interaction of Korean speakers of English for pedagogical implications.
