In this paper I try to point out the limitations of a monumental debate between Axel Honneth and Nancy Fraser on the normative goals of progressive social movements and to suggest a alternative that can solve them. To this end, I will explain the whole outline of Fraser’s stance, distribution-recognition dualism by revealing it’s problems. And I will show an overview of Honneth’s distribution-recognition monism and his critique against the Fraser’s dualism by revealing it’s problems. Finally, I will clarify what is the alternative position to overcome the limitations of the Fraser-Honneth debate. Of course, the alternative position has a form of distribution-recognition monism, but it is different from Honneth’ stance because it assume the recognition as a relation, while Honneth assume the recognition as a action.
