This study is to look into the cause and patterns of body-building fad on SNS or social networking sites and try to verify what are its positive impacts and negative impacts. The research methods are like follows. There are three stages of researches in which DRS techniques were used. In the first round, in collecting basic data and its analysis, I conducted interviews based on narrative approaches without any predesignated structures, by which I developed questionnaires. In the second, I carried out the frequency analysis through the questionnaires developed in the first. In the third, I had face-to-face consultations with experts, applying 5whytechiques about the questionnaires. The results of the study shows the three causes of the fad and the three pattern categories. The causes are: 1.enhancing the possibility of “I can do” 2. the burst of individuals’ desires to express themselves getting along with the evolution of SNS 3. the addictive pleasures to the positive responses from the follow SNS users, which keep them using the SNS. The patterns are: 1. to maintain SNS’s current status 2. to make money 3.to share knowledge and methods with others. This study tried to avoid over-generalization of the sports-sociological phenomenon shown through the body-building fad on the SNS but tried to describe it as objectively as possible, which is to provide meaningful implications to how to contribute to the creation of constructive body-building culture in our society.
