This study proposes a systematic process in integrating 3D printing technology, which has captured worldwide attention, with existing industries by deriving standards for the selection (evaluation) of 3D printing industry applications. First, by reviewing previous studies, the core and specific elements for selection (evaluation) of 3D printing industry applications have been determined, and significant elements other than those already derived from previous studies have been added in by conducting an open-ended survey to relevant experts. A closed-end survey was then conducted to define the previously derived detailed elements and to eliminate unnecessary elements. The priorities of the selected core and specific elements were determined by analyzing the elements using the AHP methodology. The results showed that significance came in the order of 1st, marketability (0.320), 2nd, technology (0.170), and 3rd, intellectual property. The significance of the specific elements came in the order of 1st, industry growth potential, 2nd, return on investment, 3rd, technological feasibility, 4th, market scale, and 5th, the ability to create new markets. These results showed that market-related elements generally are prominent in integrating technologies in the 3D printing industry. This study was the first to derive standards for evaluating the integration of 3D printing technology with exiting industries, which suggests the directions for future studies on integration promotion and related policies.
