The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of leisure activities, the perception of leisure and work, and generation on subjective happiness. This study also investigated the generation differences of leisure activity and the perception of leisure and work. The 2014 Korean leisure activity survey data were employed in this study. The major empirical findings are as follows. First, the leisure activity and the perception of leisure and work in generation showed significant difference. The younger generation more likely to participate in active leisure such as sport activity and hobby/entertainment than older generation. Second, the perception of leisure and work, the type of leisure activity, and generation have significantly influenced on subjective happiness. The results suggest that active leisure participation plays an important role in enhancing subjective happiness.
