This study is aimed at figuring out relations among motives of female students of education colleges for participating in new sports classes, their satisfaction with classes and physical exercise continuity. For the purpose, an analysis was conducted about 225 girl students taking general arts classes for freshmen of education universities. A correlation analysis, a regression analysis and a factor analysis were executed using SPSS 19.0. Specific analysis results are as follows.
First, out of subordinate factors of motives for taking part in sports, the average values of technical development and pleasure were highest. That of environmental factor was highest among subordinate factors of lesson satisfaction. Regarding exercise continuity, the will to participate and perception of importance were the most important factors for continuing exercise. As the weekly frequency of exercise participation got higher, participation motives, lesson satisfaction and exercise continuity grew.
Second, according to an analysis of effects of motives for participating in physical exercise on lesson satisfaction, subordinate factors of motives for taking part in sports, like technical development, pleasure, social life and health conditions, had static effects on lesson satisfaction in the order of mental, physical, educational and environmental factors. Health conditions, a factor of motives for taking part in physical exercise, didn’t have significant effects statistically on the environmental factor.
Third, according to an analysis of effects of motives for participating in physical exercise on exercise continuity, subordinate factors of motives for participating in physical exercise, including technical development, pleasure, social life and health conditions, had positive effects on the will to participate in sports and perception. Those factors had negative effects on motivelessness and health conditions didn’t affect motivelessness statistically.
Fourth, according to an analysis of effects of lesson satisfaction on exercise continuity, subordinate factors of lesson satisfaction, like psychological and educational factors, had effects on the will to participate in sports and perception which were factors of sports continuity. Educational, psychological and environmental factors had negative effects on motivelessness.
