본 연구에서는 가정에서의 유아 문학경험이 어떤 것인지에 대한 전반적인 실태조사를 하고, 특히 책읽기와 관련한 부모인식이 어떠하며 책읽어줄 때 방법 및 상호작용이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지, 인구통계학적 변인에 따라 차이가 있는지에 대해 조사하였다. 조사대상은 천안 시에 소재한 유치원과 어린이집에 자녀를 보내는 어머니 437명이었다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 SPSS 통계 Program을 사용하여 빈도분석 및 일원변량분석과 Duncan검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 유아들이 가정에서 가장 많이 접하는 문학경험 형태는 그림책이었다. 그림책은 주로 부모와 함께 보았으며, 유아들이 가정에서 가장 즐겨 읽는 책은‘전래동화’였고 주로 200권 이하의 그림책을 보유하는 가정이 가장 많았고 일주일에 3-4회, 20-30분씩 시간을 정해서 읽어주고 있었다. 둘째, 책 읽어주기 실태에 따른 결과에서는 가정에서 책읽어주기와 관련한 부모인식, 책읽어주기 방법, 상호작용 점수가 대체로 높았으며, 책읽어주기 중요성에 대한 부모인식은 모 직업, 월 소득, 부모학력에 따라, 가정에서의 책읽어주기 방법은 유아연령과 월 소득에 따라 차이가 있었지만 책 읽어줄 때의 상호작용에서는 인구통계학적 변인에 따라 차이가 없었다.
The purpose of this study is to investigate overall situation concerning whether what literature experiences children have at home, and identify how parents' perception of reading books for their children, the methods of parents' reading books for their children, and interaction can be different, depending on the variables of family background. Through the study results, this study pursues to provide the implications of effective home literature environment by identifying to what literature environment children are exposed at home. This study targeted 437 parents who sent their children to four kindergartens and six daycare centers located in Cheonan City. A questionnaire survey was carried out using a tool that the author of this paper reproduced, based on the studies of Weigel, Martin& Bennett (2006), Ah Jeong Gwak (1994), and Sook Yee Kim (2004). The collected data were statistically processed using the SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this study can be summarized below: First, Though children encounter various literature types, such as video/DVD/CD fairly tales, and those on the Internet, TV, and cassette tape recorder, the most popular literature experience was through picture books. Even though the children read the picture books mainly with their parents, children watched fairly tales on the Internet, video/DVD, and TV alone in more cases. The books that the children most enjoy were traditional fairly tales, and the genre that parents usually read for their children was creative fairly tale. The largest number of homes owned 11-12 video/DVD/CD books as children's literature materials, and the children watched once or twice a week with a duration of 20-30 minutes per session. Mainly mothers read the picture books for their children regularly three or four sessions a week with a duration of 20-30 minutes per session. When the parents buy picture books, they visit a book store with their children. Second, parent recognized the importance of reading books for their children at home, and there were differences depending on mother's occupation, monthly income and parent's education levels. The methods to read books for children at home appears that is reading to children to consider children's interesting and development, there are differences depending on young children's age and monthly income. When parents read books to children, interaction between parents and children were more sufficient than mediocre, and there were no any differences depending on the variables of statistics of population.
