Report Errors
Although moral example has significant meaning and value in moral education, it has been only one of several teaching material of moral education and its importance has been overlooked. Therefore, it is necessary to reveal an educational value of moral example and to develop a teaching method which use moral example. This study suggests the educational utilization of moral example in moral education. To do this, the meaning and character of moral example were identified and the criteria for its selection and classification were established. This study proposed that a moral person, a moral event, and a moral classic can be used as the criteria for selection of moral example. Moral example can be categorized according by its virtue, the period of its life used on, and the effect of its use on the teaching and learning processes as the criteria for its classification. Finally, a moral example teaching model which is consisted of six stages for moral education was organized.
