Violence against women is pandemic in Bangladesh like other countries. The most common form of violence is physical assaults and followed by sexual assaults and harassments. The psychological or mental violence either separately or inclusively with other forms of violence is high but the victims are not aware about such violence. Government of Bangladesh enacted various laws to prevent and redress violence against women and children as well as the Hon’ble High Court Division of Supreme Court of Bangladesh has given directives detailing a set of guidelines for action in cases of sexual harassment of women and girls in academic institutions, workplaces or organizations. The cycle of violence has three distinct phases, namely before the incidence of violence where the awareness and sensitization can play a vital role. The second phase is the incidence of violence which requires various types of supports and responses for the victims. The 3rd one is the follow up of the cases including the rehabilitation and reintegration of the victims into her community. In this paper I have incorporated the existing services and supports for the women and children victims of violence. Also focused on how to mobilize all the required services from one corner through multi-sectoral programme on violence against women (MSPVAW) like One-Stop Crisis Centre, One-Stop Crisis Cell, National Trauma Counseling Centre, National Helpline Centre. The unique innovation under this programme is the mobilization of the concerned ministries, departments, local offices, professionals, stakeholders, community people under those institutions to work under one umbrella. The effective network among the government departments, development partners, non-government organizations and citizen’s groups is the success story of the MSPVAW. This network, firstly, for the multi-sectoral approach and secondly, for each components developed professional engagement from national to the grassroots level and sharing the good practices of all stakeholders provide the opportunity for belongingness. I believe that the prevalence of the violence in Bangladesh demands the coordinated mechanism for providing various supports and services by implementing the National Action Plan to prevent violence against women and children. Our target is to bring together all experts from different professions and stakeholders to combat violence against women and children by enforcing the services of the National Centre on Gender based Violence. The professionals and stakeholders can be sensitized to change the mindset of the people and overcome the social stigma of the victims and their families to avoid further humiliation in the community.
