Reference building represents typical energy usage characteristics of a certain usage of building stock based on various existing building information. Until now, non-residential reference buildings are defined arbitrary in terms of used DB, definition procedure, purpose, etc, which makes difficult to use for other research purpose. As a result, the definition study of a Non-residential reference building has been repeated continuously. In this study, reference building definition procedures of the U.S. and Europe are reviewed, and a framework for the definition of non-residential reference building of Korea is proposed for detailed building energy analysis program. Since the framework use KEEI’s permanent commercial building energy survey results with supplemental DBs, it could provide consistent reference building definition results regardless of researchers and research purposes.
