The purpose of this study is to reveal the generation and mechanism of ‘一量VP’ which is a kind of modern Chinese syntax through the historical research of ‘一拳VP’. In this paper, ‘一量VP’ is limited to ‘Borrowed quantity’ and ‘VP’ only takes affirmative form. Therefore, examples such as ‘一腳踢開了門’ fall within the scope of this paper, but ‘一 次也沒去過’ is excluded from this article. This paper focuses on the analysis method of analogy through the tracking of longitudinal and transversal corpus of ‘一拳VP’. The syntactic significance of the ‘一量VP’ syntax was interpreted by a cognitive linguistic approach such as ‘Sequence Iconicity’, ‘Distance Iconicity’, ‘Path Diagram’, and ‘Family Similarity’. The results showed that the ‘一量VP’ syntax was completed through the development stages of ‘V一量’ → ‘V一量, + subsequent component’ → ‘situation phrase + 一量 + subsequent component’ → ‘一量 VP’. Therfore, we can define the syntactic significance qualities of the ‘一 量VP’ syntax completed in the Yuan Dynasty as follows. First, it is a demonstration aimed at some outstanding ability of the agent. Second, it is a description of the speed and proficiency of agent action. Third, it shows the destructive effect of the action on the target. The semantic qualities of these three are naturally limited to the prototype of ‘一量VP’ syntax. Thus, the syntactic semantic qualities of this prototype ‘一量VP’ can not be applied directly to these sentences such as ‘一腳踩破了氣球’, ‘一 屁股坐在地上’, ‘一炮走紅’. But what is clear is that the target of the act has been expanded in the order of ‘person → animal → object → concept →’ from concrete to abstract. In the same way, the syntactic significance is gradually becoming more diversified by metaphorical cognition and experience by ‘family similarity’.
