This paper proposes SIMT architecture-based reconfigurable Image Signal Processor (ISP). Conventional ISP commonly has the hard-wired image processing algorithm of which the processing speed is fast, but one problem of these conventional ISP is that they cannot apply various image processing algorithms. On the other hand, as the image quality required by various devices is gradually increasing and the image processing algorithms are becoming diversified, the burden of calculations in the main processor such as CPU or GPGPU is growing bigger. To solve these problems, an ISP was designed in this paper which can reduce the burden of the main processor by applying the SIMT structure which is based on instructions, can apply various image processing algorithms, and allows parallel processing. The proposed ISP was verified with a VC-707 board equipped with Virtex-7 FPGA and showed about 2.4 times higher processing speed compared to the DSP which performs a similar role as ISP.
