Proposed in the paper is a layout design procedure for a chemical plant focusing on the safety issues. Although interest in safety has increased, chemical plant accidents are still growing. The purpose of this study is to derive safety - related constraints and performance indicators by analyzing the system and existing research, and to propose a design procedure that can reflect the derived constraints and performance indicators. The design examples of chemical plants reflected the design procedure, safety constraints and safety KPI proposed in this study.
