Along with an increased interest in using interior plants to provide color and a natural environment indoors, there has been much research on improving growth methods of indoor plants. By analyzing color changes in a foliage plant (Dracaena) treated with diverse microorganisms under various indoor light conditions, this study aimed to understand the effects of microorganism treatment on indoor foliage plants. Dracaena was selected upon the advice of two plant experts, one color expert, and one plant seller, based on the plant’s beautiful shape, patterned leaves, and available production. The treatment plots had 50% shading (one shading net) and 100% shading (two shading nets); a non-treatment plot without a shading net was used as the control. An easily applicable microorganism agent (from G company) was selected to provide the basis for treatments made by mixing with two types of germicide, one type of soil microorganism agent, and two types of nutritional supplement. The treatment plot containing the germicide and type did not improve Dracaena leaf color and the influence of the microorganisms varied according to shading amounts. Each treatment plot showed significant and diverse relationships between Dracaena leaf color and microorganism type. In addition to applying this method to indoor plants other than Dracaena, future research should investigate additional methods for maintaining and improving the color of indoor plants.
